Premiere: 'For July' by Avenhart

The first studio album from Avenhart

Avenhart is one of our absolute favorite bands in the Denver community, and they are bringing a new album into the world on the same night that they’re playing their final show.

Blending Americana and pop on top of bluegrass roots, the six-piece band began as an ensemble at the University of Colorado Denver in 2015. They made it official after semesters of growing chemistry and excitement for songwriting, and their first official show under their new name happened in the basement cafe of Swallow Hill. The group has grown exponentially since then, releasing their debut EP to a sold-out Lost Lake, going on to headline the Bluebird Theatre, winning multiple local awards, and embarking on their first tour across the midwest. They have a truly unique sound, intensely soulful and authentic over intricate string composition, and have made an impact on this community in many ways.

Yet, all good things must come to an end. Avenhart announced in November of 2019 that they had decided to end the group after four years of growth, both as a group and as individuals. Growth means different things at different times, and while remaining friends, they have grown in different directions. We are sad to see them go, but we are infinitely grateful for the beautiful full-length album they are gifting us in return. And as we enter the new year, we hope it also brings forth new projects from Avenhart’s former members. We will be waiting.
